Indian government: The days of future past

There was a huge wave back in 2014. The prime minister won general elections with a thumping majority. It was a story of democracy vs political hegemony, India was about to experiment something which she had never before. Prime Minister started on work from the very first day. People were looking to change things in no time, there was a tremendous weigh of expectations on the union government.

Expectations from Indian government

2014 was a turning point in many ways, things changed dramatically. Everyone was expecting Modi to do something about economic policy paralysis. India had gone through an era of darkness under UPA regime. It was hard for the people to expect normalcy, stability and growth.

A series of corruption scandals wiped out all the hopes and aspirations of young India. There was no way to walk onto, then was the time to change future. 2014-16 India was still recovering from losses, but it was not the time to blame predecessor instead we decided to go beyond petty politics. We had an opportunity to reshape Indian economy, and set a stage for the world through new investment friendly policies.

Reshaping India

Things change with time, and it was our time to change things. The government planned to have major changes right through the policy making process, we wanted to cure the system root. Prime Minister himself was promoting the habit of discipline & accountability. We’d to wakeup age old bureaucracy structure, and this is still an ongoing process.

In the beginning, there was a resistance, people usually are not adaptive to change. Opposition used to criticize Modi government for not continuing the “chalta hai attitude”. Proactive approach really helps to solve problems.

The road ahead

I don’t remember a day when Modi government was missing in the news. Politics dominates prime times debates which leaves lesser room for the others, this could be a one of reasons some apolitical people hate Modi.

India is going through all-round development in the social & economic segments. Today, India is world’s fastest growing major economy with a stable position. It’s not that the Government is doing everything. Actually, it’s the people who can bring real change, government is just clearing roadblocks to push people forward.

Now, there is hope, belief and positive approach towards reaching to common socio-economic goals. India has escaped from the quicksand of social polarization, 2019 elections united country like never before. We are shifting to scientific politics where development is the core issue.
