The Indian Way of Developing Artificial Intelligence

Having a vision with a roadmap certainly helps to accelerate the growth of emerging technological development and societal acceptance. Economic challenges occur in the absence of adequate strategic planning and implementation.

Before we adopt a nationwide AI policy, we must thoughtfully consider the long-term implications on India.

Hence, we will have absolute clarity on out path of building AI ML framework for India integrating our socio-economic objectives.

The Govt is entitled to put safeguards when technological developments are weakening social structure with an adverse impact on a billion people.

AI development must align with the government’s economic strategy for citizen empowerment through employment opportunities.

 The AI Policy of India

The AI policy of India encourages holistic technological advancements that create wealth for society while safeguarding individuals and businesses against intellectual property theft through unethical practices.

India is strongly against the use of Generative content tools that are trained on Web content without the consent of business owners. We are considering restriction on such technologies, preventing their access to web content for regeneration.

On a broader picture, we will be focusing on the following AI related development to accelerate AI innovations in India.

 Indigenous and Independent

AI policy focuses more on building indigenous and independent AI framework for India. We need to start working as mentioned,

 AI Chip

A few countries have developed AI Chips, India need to join the elite club with local chip building capabilities procuring raw materials from Indian states.

Developing indigenous chips has several employment benefits in mining and transportation sectors.

Tech industry is going through Chip shortages, India can support the global economy through local Chip making.

 Machine Learning Framework

We need private and open source machine learning projects hosted on cloud. The ML project will be open for subscribers to build AI, IoT, Machine Learning applications as per the requirements.

Our focus is on building specific AI solution which doesn’t require a large datasets. For example, building a robot for car parking, developing a digital security system for buildings, etc.

Unlike GenerativeAI, a meaningful machine learning projects actually creates opportunities for IT companies, employment for programmers and wealth for India.

 Data Center

We need a vast network of data centers to deploy machine learning projects so IT companies can provide industrial grade AI Machine Learning solutions for factories and offices.

We need all type of data center big to small. Small businesses should also be able to develop their own data center at premises.

Hardware firms can provide this facility to startups and small enterprises.

 Operating System

We also need to focus on developing an operating system for the following:

  • Cloud OS
  • Desktop
  • Mobile
  • Tablet
  • Wearables
  • VR / AR
  • Gadgets

Having a local operating system gives a great freedom and security for the Indian IT sector.

Electronics

We need a complete indigenous hardware ecosystem that includes building PCs, Tablets, Mobile, Accessories, Gadgets.

This will reduce imports and dependence on third party while India will be able produce enough for the 1.4 billion potential customers.

Our electronic exports will increase with the Made By South initiative.

 Socio-Economics

Employment is the best way to empower citizens and build a strong foundation of the economy. The Govt will work on doubling the job creating rate with this AI revolution.

Everything should be done in a proper way. We know that medicines help to make society healthy, but do we distribute it to everyone everywhere?

We believe AI is good for increasing industrial output, there should be proper channels and frameworks to distribute and utilize AI whenever required.

 AI Application

The constitution will govern the AI developments in India. AI in India will thrive as long as it supports all Indian businesses and citizens.

Securing Indian business interests and individual rights remain a core part of AI policy.

We need to apply AI in a way it doesn’t harm other businesses using unconstitutional methods.

Since this is an emerging technology, AI requires strong vigil from government think tanks and civil organizations.

 Employment

We will launch FREE AI, Machine Learning, IoT programs at Industrial Training Institutes to learn operating AI-powered tools at factories and offices.

We already have a large network of ITI even in small towns, AI training programs can be rolled out very quickly.

Government will provide AI, Machine Learning and IoT tools to all ITI across India to ensure practical industrial education.

This will act as upskilling initiative to help existing workforce get ready with AI operational skills to retain jobs in factories and offices.

 Business

One of the biggest challenges businesses have is shortage of talent, with ITI training the existing workforce will return to factories and offices with newly developed skills helping businesses to adapt AI easily without disruptions.

With skilled workforce businesses will be able to improve productivity with AI. Businesses supported by skilled teams will help to improve exports.

I remember when OpenAI CEO Sam Altman visited India in 2023, he was so proud about what he built and with reference to Indian software developers he said “‘Hopeless to compete with us’”. I don’t know what is to be proud about in stealing other people’s work!

All you have is a loss making Chatbot consuming very high amount of energy adding to inflation while creating no wealth for society. How long can you convince investors to pump billions of Dollar to generate absolutely garbage content and codes through ChatGPT?

China is offering better tools for free forever! AI Chatbot business model is flawed, it will never make a Dollar in profit.

There is no greater stupidity than trying to replace the Nature on Earth.

The Pandya

India has a different approach to AI development, and we will achieve it.
